WEST CHESTER -- A local band found out it's been invited to take a trip to New York City next Thanksgiving. The Lakota West High School Marching Band was invited Monday to march in the 2013 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade."Amazing. So exciting. It'll be so much fun," student Kara Baumhardt said. The band will be one of 11 marching bands in the parade, officials said.Students said getting into the band next year will probably be at least a little more difficult."It's definitely going to be more competitive. I'm going to be better than I am now, I'm sure everyone else will be, too, " David Klopfenstein said. It's an honor that the seniors appreciate, even if they won't be around to participate."It's great. They deserve it completely. They've worked hard," Matthew Robillard said."We continue to excel and do the best we can. And we think kids want to be a part of something great," director of bands Greg Snyder said. "I hope they think, 'Wow, band is really fun!' and want to be a part of the Lakota West legacy."
